Yes it was hard to play live. no it will never leave the soft spot that I hold in my heart for it. Mountains of the Moon is a great song.

A great era for the band mixing the psychedelic suites of 68 with newer Aoxomoxoa material. Mountains Of The Moon and Doin That Rag are fantastic. The Dark Star and 11 are absolutely out of this world

a spectacular show heavily overshadowed by 2/27-3/2, this is NOT to be overlooked. monster versions of every song, including definitive readings of Dark Star, Eleven and Lovelight. DS is an eyelash lesser than Live/Dead, and the eleven will just melt your face off. this copy is much crisper sounding than the other. if you don't have the fillmore box set, this will come close to making up for it...

Subject: The GRATEFUL DEAD "Live In Concert" February 22, 1969 at the Dream Bowl, Vallejo, California, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Classic 69' GRATEFUL DEAD "sound", from Vallejo?

Yup, from Vallejo...Vallejo must have been wild in 1969...bikers, etc... Vallejo is still pretty wild and crazy, and broke.

Dark Star starts out with Jerry playing acoustic guitar...

1969 GRATEFUL DEAD is free from commercialism, free from stadium music, it's the underground as it sounded in 1969, before commercial success.

This show is a must have for all collectors of 1969 GRATEFUL DEAD.

You can click "Check for Other Copies" and compare it with the other show of the same date on the IA.

I recommend using your EQ during playback of most of the shows on the IA, this one included.

Windows Media Player has a 10 band EQ and SRS WOW effects that enhance the sound.

Here's one way to stream/dowload this show:

You could hook up audio cables (1/8th inch stereo male jack with two rca male jacks at the other end) from your headphone jack on your computer to your audio input on your Reel to Reel, Cassette,VHS, CD, DVD, MP3, recorder and record it in real time...duh?

Eat, Drink, Be Merry and Listen to the GRATEFUL DEAD, for tomorrow we may die....

Thanks for the LOVE from 1969.

Subject: it's way better than you'd think
Just when i was lamenting the fact that i couldn't hear the Fillmore East shows from '69 (commercially released) - i stumbled upon this concert. This comes from a guy who had thought '71 was their earliest 'listenable' stuff. This is pure psychedelic rock at its finest - no cowboy tunes here. In fact Jerry announces the intermission as a chance for folks to 'rest' - the collective mind no doubt exploring the cosmos. These songs are perfect - there are no wasted notes whatsoever. Others will follow with more eloquent words than this but trust me - this is the GD at their finest. Not in '69 but period. I cannot fathom why i'm the first to write a review other than thanx for the opportunity.
